Janardan has spent his life in the pursuit of the highest form of art - abstraction. Born in Kenya, he was heavily influenced by the beauty and power of nature and this still comes across in his work.
Janardan's work is recognised for its delicate balance of form, structure, movement, light and colour.
Painting became a passion for him from the age of six and this was nurtured in him by his parents. Even his childhood artwork reflected his passion for pure abstraction, picking up prizes at the time.
As a student in London, Janardan studied under Lawrence Gowing and Frank Auerbach.
Later in life he was directly mentored by M.Desai and M.F.Husain (dubbed Picasso of India by Forbes in 2006). He became lifelong friends with the late M.F.Husain and they often painted together. Photo below features Janardan with M.F.Husain.
Janardan has continued to paint throughout his life without fail. Even through difficult times and big responsibilities he continued to produce art. Some of his works reflect these personal experiences and the world issues of the time. For example the civil unrest in Africa in the 1970s when Janardan's family relocated to London. Also notably the artwork he created on the night Martin Luther King died.
Janardan has been recognised and celebrated by his peers and he has thousands of artworks around the world. Still going strong, Janardan at 80 continues to paint daily!
